Dot is a narrative film that tells the story of a wide-eyed young girl with a big imagination. She is super intelligent, an inventor of great contraptions, and a conjurer of a slew of imaginary friends. She is quick-witted, adorable, and sly as a fox, who uses her amazing creativity to stay ahead.

Dot doesn't have any friends her age, the kids at school think she's weird. In fact the only actual social connection that she has is with a fellow inventor, Bernard Amadeus Ripley, Jr. However, instead of bonding over their social awkwardness, Bernard and Dot become bitter rivals and engage in a flying machine competition.

The film was shot on location in New Jersey, with scenes at the beach and at a local elementary school. Filming began in November for an eight-day period after four months of extensive pre-production. The script, written by Robert Kolodny, recalls great children’s literature and classic children’s heroes. Visually, it is an art -driven piece, with detailed inventions, flying contraptions, stop-motion graphics and imaginary friends.
